Illmatic received 5 mics for a reason. simplistic and boring? we must be talking about two different genres of music. this is not classical music,therefore, you don't have to have layers of sounds embedded on a track. i'm not looking for oboes, clarinets, and harps. rap music is about complex lyrics over a TIGHT beat. tight does not always equal complex. the more complex the beat,? the harder it is to concentrate on the lyrics.
