I'm commenting on my experience living there and what my friends told me,? and I have to tell that people DO say west and east still these days.. About being more open and diverse I guess that depends, I visited Berlin and the gay community there was more visible than it was in any other city in the 'west'.. but at the same time my roommate's girlfriend who was Indian experienced some hostility in 'east' cities. Whereas I know Turkish experience it in the 'west' too.

Except for trying to overthrow government (You cannot try this in US either. Otherwise, they'll find a way to school you), you can find all sorts of things going on in China's media nowadays. Why? Because government doesn't control as much as used to be. Many of those kind of? things won't appear in West Media bz those media were tightly controlled, not by government, but by the boss behind. My? point made to this video was: China's system, although still lots of room to improve especially on power check mechanism, but not as bad as what most Westerners are talking about as seen here and on media. Most Westerners will just say China is a communist country and no freedom for people. Being in West for many yrs, I'm kind of fed up with the election every 5 yrs. To please voters, in most cases u have to promise less tax and better welfare. Basically, work less but better life. You need? to look back how China was before Mr. Deng started his reform policy. For a very poor country with such a big population what better way can you come up with? Every rich country experienced the same transition from labor intensive hard working period to the high tech, richer and enjoy-your-life time. China fully understands what her problems are.
