Thanks for posting this! For the past 20 years I thought I had over inflated Frank's eccentricity. Not a bit. He was on an anti-liberal tirade during the flight we? took. I was trying hard not to laugh because my woman friend was a staunch liberal who was probably almost biting her tongue, scared to upset Frank, and have him have a heart attack. :-) He flew 12 more years after we were there! Thanks again!

My dad, Pete Puckett, was a pilot who flew out of Franks airport from the time I was a little girl until he died in 1973. Frank always said Daddy was the best pilot he'd ever seen. He's also in the book "Far Appalachia" because the exerpt from Franks book was the part where Frank talked about the day my dad died after a perfect landing at Franks. The title of that chapter is February 9, 1973. I spent a lot of time at Fayette? Airport growing up.

obama did not tell the owner to trade in a Ford Mustang, like that. it's all a numbers game, the dealership could not give more than $1500 bucks, trade in if that even. So they recommend to the customer cash for clunkers, and that way the customer gets? $3500 or $4500 depending on what they're buying. And to a customer and the dealership it's a win-win situation. the customer probably had no idea the value on the open market, all they saw was in old car and wanted new.

cash for clunker engine blow up, 96 Blazer 4.3 vortec

Blowing up a good running 4.3 liter V6 engine.This is after draining all the oil, not counting what was in the oil filter, then adding 2 quarts of sodium silicate solution, and dropping the hammer! There was a hole in the block, but I could not get a picture of that with the axle in the way. Connecting rod and piston parts came out....

it truly was a retarded idea. All they really wanted you to do was use the money to buy new since you traded in your ride to begin with so you really walked out with nothing and in the hole to boot. I have a 2006 Sierra and I traded in a 2000 Neon (nothing to do with CFC) and its been the biggest piece of shit I've had, been in the shop 4 times AND it failed etest prior to me getting it. All my neon cost me? was gas,tires, brakes for 5 years...New is certainly NOT always better

Did Obama actually think that taking out these vehicles was going? to do so much as put a dent into "global warming"? Horrible program, it makes me sad that the money coming out of all of our paychecks went to DESTROYING thousands of vehicles that were in perfect working order. I'm sure there are lots of low income families, charities, churches, schools, or other legitimate organizations that would have loved to have some of these vehicles. At my dealership we did more mini vans than anything..

Blowing up a good running 4.2 liter V6 engine.This is after draining all the oil, not counting what was in the oil filter, then adding 2 quarts of sodium silicate solution, and dropping the hammer! This one threw at least one rod causing some big time damage!
