Sky Diving UK: Where to Go, What to Expect

Sky diving is a sport enjoyed around the world. For anyone seeking sky diving UK locations, one of the best places to check out is Target Skysports. This company advertises itself as the home of UK sky diving and for good reason. This location is home to the British National Championships and offers jumps at the highest altitude in all of England. The main drop zone is in Lincolnshire but there are two others in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. Target Skysports offers training courses which include tandem parachuting, accelerated freefall and static line.

Tandem parachuting means you are actually hooked to your instructor the entire time. You may pull the chute cord, but if you do not or cannot your instructor will take over. Tandem parachuting is the best way to go if you are a first time sky diver. Because you are attached to an experienced teacher, there is no need for lengthly instruction. Therefore, you will be able to take your jump after a brief instructional period.

The accelerated freefall course takes at least two days, and will teach you how to jump from 15,000 feet. The purpose of this course is to teach students to free fall rather than having the chute open immediately after the jump. The free fall is often the most exciting part of the jump which is why more experienced jumpers go for this course. It is the most in-depth course offered by Target Skysports.

Then there's static line parachuting. This is different from accelerated freefall in several ways. For one, the altitude is only about 4,000 feet. When you exit the plane, your parachute opens immediately. Therefore, you do not get to experience the free fall sensation. Static line parachuting is great for beginners who have progressed past the tandem jump but are not ready for the accelerated freefall.

Sky diving UK is a great experience. You will find sky diving to be very exciting and much safer than many people think. There are plenty of safety precautions that are taken and state of the art equipment which makes this activity a lot less dangerous than it sounds. Of course there are always risks when jumping from an airplane thousands of feet above the ground. However, the risks are part of the thrill for many sky divers!
