A Guide to Indoor Skydiving in New York
For those in the New York area seeking an incredible experience, indoor skydiving fits the bill. You may have thought about real skydiving but changed your mind after you thought more about jumping from an airplane thousands of feet above the Earth. If so, indoor skydiving in New York may be the perfect solution. You can fulfill your hunger for an adrenaline rush, have something memorable to talk about and do it without ever getting in an airplane or reaching ridiculously high altitudes. Indoor skydiving is a great way to get a taste of this sport without going all out.
When you go skydiving indoors, you will be using a wind tunnel. Many wind tunnels are actually used for scientific study, but some are devoted to indoor skydiving. You may hear this type of skydiving referred to as a simulation. It is in fact very similar to the real thing. The first thing that will happen is your orientation. Because skydiving indoors is quite different from doing so outdoors, the orientation is not as lengthly. You will be taught how to use your safety equipment and use the flight tunnel safely. It takes about 20 minutes at most indoor sky diving centers.
After your orientation, you will get into your gear and prepare for your flight. You'll likely be wearing a special suit called a jumpsuit, a pair of protective goggles and a pair of protective ear plugs. As far as shoes are concerned, a good pair of athletic shoes should do fine. When you enter the tunnel you will be lifted off the ground by a powerful gust of wind. The wind will pick you up and elevate you as high as 25 feet in the air. You will be able to experience free falling and the feeling of floating down just as you would if you were actually skydiving.
If you are looking for indoor skydiving in New York, the best thing to do is check your telephone directory or even the Internet for a facility near you. The popularity of skydiving is growing, which means there are more indoor centers popping up all over the place. Indoor skydiving is not only fun, it is a great way to train for a real jump. Many skydivers in training use indoor wind tunnels. Even competitive jumpers use these facilities to hone their skills and perfect their abilities.
